Europart Launches SLOT from Cargoclix
- Spare parts distributor introduces the cloud-based software from Cargoclix in the central warehouse in Werl.
- Using the tool, more than 300 trucks and vans are dispatched each month at incoming goods ramps.
(Freiburg i.Br., 1.10.2019) The spare parts distributor Europart recently started to use the timeslot management system SLOT from Cargoclix at its central warehouse in Werl in the district Soest. With the help of the cloud-based software of the IT specialist from Freiburg, the company optimises nine ramps in the incoming goods area of 39,000 square metre distribution centre. Thanks to the IT system, the possibility of trucks or vans being stowed in front of the system for unloading is to be ruled out. “Previously, we had the problem of truck jams on certain days, especially in the morning. That’s why we looked around for cost-effective software for time window management,” reports Alexander Grosch, service logistics expert at the Werl site.
After research and recommendation, Europart opted for SLOT. “In addition to the price, we were convinced by the simple customizations and support,” Grosch emphasizes.
The software will initially be used on nine of the 15 ramps at the goods entrance. Each month, more than 300 trucks and vans are handled without congestion. Around 200 suppliers transport their products to Werl or have them delivered by forwarding agents. A good 45,000 articles are permanently available for customers in the central warehouse, which was equipped with 15 ramps at goods receipt and 40 at goods issue.
Logistics service providers have the option of booking the electronic time windows for deliveries in SLOT 25 days in advance. On the day before the desired delivery date, bookings until 2 p.m. are still possible. Within just a few weeks, more than half of the logistics service providers decided to activate the software. Normally, drivers for whom time slots have been booked can drive their vehicles directly to the ramps or only have to accept a very short time span until dispatch. With a few exceptions, the regulation at Europart is clear: “If you haven’t booked a time window, you have to wait,” explains Grosch. The company is thus trying to convince other logistics service providers to use the software.
Europart has not regretted the introduction of the cloud-based timeslot management system. “The situation with waiting times at goods receipt has improved significantly. For both us and the logistics service providers, the processes are now running more smoothly,” says Grosch.
