Novartis launches Cargoclix TimeSlot
The pharmaceutical company Novartis has been using the Internet-based time slot management system Cargoclix “TimeSlot” at the Stein plant since the beginning of April. With the system, resources at the ramp can be planned better and processes can be designed quickly and flexibly.
Approximately 20 trucks arrive daily at the four ramps. Transport companies can book their desired delivery time via the Internet from 80 days in advance and up to three days before delivery. Novartis will pay the fee of 50 cents per slot.
Two of the largest Novartis plants are located in Stein, Switzerland: the Solids plant and the Steriles plant. Around three billion tablets, capsules, ampoules, syringes, vials, auto-injectors and transdermal patches are produced there every year and shipped to more than 150 countries worldwide.
